A fascinating walk into the heart of the earth, to discover the precious Magnetite and the hard work of the Elban miners.
Ginevro was the largest and most productive gallery in Europe, the flagship of Italian steel production. In operation from the seventies until 1981, it was one of the most modern underground mines in Europe, built with innovative criteria for the time.
At the time of the interruption of the mining activity, only a third of the iron deposit had been exploited, so much so that Ginevro was labeled as a "strategic reserve of the state". You will climb aboard the typical vehicle of the Safari in Mine, a large military jeep, which will take you to discover the most fascinating areas, up to the entrance of the tunnel.
Armed with helmets and torches, we will begin the adventure by walking underground where the Elban miners have proudly suffered.
The views of Ginevro are of rare beauty and its "iron snakes", the conveyor belts, stand out in the sky forming wavy lines that will capture your gaze.
The guide, an expert in the sector and an audio will accompany you, telling history, anecdotes and geology, for an interesting and fun excursion.
We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and a jacket, in the tunnel there are constant 18°c Included in the price, a visit to the museum of the Vecchia Officina, where you will find the history of the mines, the quarrymen and of the environments they lived in.
